What is ODK?

Open Data Kit is a toolkit that allows for data collection. We use it primarily for surveys, assessments, and mapping out assets of the United Methodist Church. The main thing our communicators will probably find useful is ODK Collect, one of the ODK tools that can be downloaded to an Android phone. This enables an Android phone to be able to download forms from the internet, then go off to places outside of internet connectivity to capture information, and when the user is back in an area with connectivity, it will upload that information to the server to be used. The application allows us to capture more rich data, like photos, video, and geo-coordinates, utilizing the phone for these features. You can download the app from the Play Store here.
